Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of Quire, a desktop Markdown editor published by IAM_DEV. By installing or using Quire you agree to them.
Licence
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Quire on devices you own or control, in accordance with the terms of the store you obtained it from. The software itself is licensed, not sold; IAM_DEV retains all rights in it that are not expressly granted here.
Your documents are yours
Quire claims no rights whatsoever over the files you open or create with it. Your documents remain your own property, stored on your own device in plain Markdown, and readable by any other editor. IAM_DEV has no access to them.
What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Redistribute, resell, rent or sublicense the software.
- Remove or alter any copyright or attribution notices it contains.
- Use it in any way that breaks the law where you are.
Your responsibility for your data
Quire edits files in place, in folders you choose. It is designed to be careful with them — saves are written atomically so an interrupted save cannot truncate a file, a save is refused when the file has been changed by another program since you opened it, and deletions go to the Recycle Bin rather than being erased outright.
Even so, you remain responsible for keeping your own backups. No editor can protect against every form of hardware failure, operating system fault or accidental change, and you should not rely on Quire as your only copy of work that matters to you.
Availability and changes
Quire may be updated over time to add, alter or remove features. We may also stop distributing or supporting it. Nothing here obliges IAM_DEV to provide updates or to maintain any particular feature indefinitely.
No warranty
Quire is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAM_DEV shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use Quire. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain of these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only so far as the law allows.
Governing terms
Where Quire is obtained through the Microsoft Store, the store's own terms apply to your acquisition of it alongside these terms. If any provision here is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in force.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the revised version will be published on this page with a new date at the top. Continuing to use Quire after that means you accept the revision.
